Those residing outside of Nampa city limits may purchase a library card by paying the following fee and providing photo ID (sales tax included in price):

  • $18 4-month

Idaho libraries are funded solely by local property taxes. Our library is city funded, so only city residents and property owners qualify for a “free” membership.

Note: We do not issue accounts to minors (under 18) unless the parent or legal guardian is present and has an account. The parent or guardian is responsible for all materials checked out by the minor. Library staff do not assume the role of evaluating what minors may or may not check out.

1. Picture ID – acceptable proof

2. Proof of residence – acceptable documents

  • Valid Idaho driver’s license, if issued within the last year
  • Rental or lease agreement, signed within the last 2 months
  • Proof of auto insurance
  • Bill or business mail – must have name, address and date imprinted the contents within the last 2 months
  • Tax assessment notice
  • Postcard sent by the library to your address (available upon request)

Yes. Non-residents can purchase a library card. See the membership fees listed above.

Online applications are processed after your documents are reviewed. After that, your card is mailed to you. If you apply in person, you may receive your card the same day.

You must provide documentation showing your current address to qualify for a resident card. See the acceptable documents list for options.

Yes. However, anyone under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present. The parent or guardian must also have a library account and accepts responsibility for the child’s account.

Report lost cards immediately to prevent unauthorized use. Your first replacement card is free. Additional replacements cost $1.

Yes. Library cards must be renewed periodically to keep your account information accurate. Our current renewal period for resident card holders is every 2 years.
