Support Your LibraryWelcome! Every day the Nampa Public Library enthusiastically connects people of all ages to materials and programs that help improve their lives. The library is funded by residents’ taxes. Many individuals and groups generously take extra steps to support and expand the library’s resources and services for the benefit of the entire community. Opportunities for support include volunteering at the library, participating in the Friends of the Library activities, or making financial contributions to the library. The Friends of the Nampa Public Library is an active group who welcome new members, and offer opportunities for participation with the Book Sale, other special projects, or service on the Friends Board. The library benefits from volunteers, who donated over 2,000 hours of service in 2007. Volunteers are assigned to mend and repair library books and to prepare returned materials for shelving. Many young people provide critical assistance by signing up to be Teen Volunteers during the library’s Summer Reading Program. In 2007, Teen Volunteers spent nearly 1,300 hours during the months of June and July providing help at the Summer Reading Desk. Bequests and donations augment traditional city property tax funding that supports library services. Financial contributions may be undesignated for the library to use as needed, or designated specifically to support library materials, programming, operations, or a new library facility. The library also provides a method for donations to be made to honor family or friends. The Library is designated as an Idaho Educational Institution and qualifies for the Idaho Education Tax Credit, so your gift is tax-deductible.
